I was going to talk about the terrors of publishing. I DID talk about the terrors of publishing and then promptly lost an essay that took me over an hour to write. So today the terrors of publishing include software that is recalcitrant and writers who are not careful.
Shit on toast.
Anyway, today we have MOONRISE for free at Amazon only (I can either do absolutely free at Amazon or very very cheap everywhere, so I'm trying to alternate). Moonrise might be the darkest book I've written (or so some people think) but even if the ending seems oblique, let me assure you it's a happy ending. They're going to live a long long time, happy with each other, even if it's going to be undercover. Trust me on this.
And I promise to get the books out today. I went and bought mailers (should have had them before) and I'm ready to load them up and send them out. Sorry for the delay but I get there eventually.
Good God, is that all I have to say? Damn, I was so loquacious an hour ago. I held the secrets to the universe, the answer to all that is wrong in publishing, and now it's lost forever.
(I love French, and "tant pis" is really a lot better than "whatever" which is basically comparable. Or "so what." Or "too bad." That's the nice thing about language -- certain phrases can mean all sorts of things.
Where were we? Oh, I know, fixing the world. Tomorrow I will try to come up with the answers to all this. And coming up later this month, two special drawings. One for a Kindle (just the reading kind -- I want you to read!) and one for a secret surprise. (I know it's redundant -- I'm in a bad mood because I lost my post. So sue me).
Speaking of suing me, it's probably just as well I lost that post. I was, as usual, indiscreet.
Here's your question for day. Assuming at least some of you have read my books (and there is a vast number of people who haven't) -- if you had to pick one of my heroes to be your personal hero, which one would you pick? Tricky question, since my heroes are such asshats. Her grace, Duchess Nicole asked me that question, and I knew the answer immediately.
Who would you pick? (And if your answer doesn't show up right away it's because this annoying software insists I approve all the comments).
And if no one answers I will become despondent and eat too many carbs, so you need to save me from myself.
And can you guess who I'd pick?
