Well, we'll see if this works. I'm adding a current photo of me, in all my winter pulchritude (we had a high of 8 above today, so it's still winter in Northern Vermont). On such a cold day (with a powerful wind) the best thing to do is stay indoors, and when it came toward dinner time (Pesto Tortellini, which sounds like a great name for an Italian gigolo) and ciabatta (which we tend to call Chewbacca) I turned on the tv and saw that JEWEL OF THE NILE, the sequel to ROMANCING THE STONE, was on. So we immediately settled down to watch it, because hey, romance writer heroine? And Kathleen Turner was so luminous, Michael Douglas so hot, how could we resist. We got to the part where they're both hanging over a pit of death, waiting to see who falls first, and I told Richie (the husband of forty years) that if we were ever hanging side by side over a fiery pit, waiting to see who fell first, we should swing so we could cling together and fall at the same time. He was agreeable, as he always is, and we watched the end of the movie.
I sighed and mentioned how freaking gorgeous Kathleen Turner was (and how she's full-blown like me nowadays) and Richie said "She's always reminded me of you."
Oh, God bless the boy. I used to think he looked just like Tom Selleck. I've also reminded him of a young Ingrid Bergman (think Notorious). Would you believe we're still in love.
I think romance writers and readers tend to have better marriages. RWA has put out lots of studies supposedly proving it, and I think it holds true. We still believe in the power in love and the importance of it. We believe in going through tough times and holding on to what's important, we believe that suffering gets better and love really does conquer all.
And we believe our plump, 66 year old wives look like Kathleen Turner and our sixty-four year old husbands look incredibly hot in blue jeans,a blue buffalo check shirt and a blue vest. Yum!
I don't have everybody's snail mail address yet. Be sure and let me know where to send the books, or you'll miss the treasure of .... well, you'll miss a lot of fun and hot sex.
In case you didn't recognize me from that picture, here's what I really look like.
